Welcome to the official Shepherd Group Brass Band website and the City of York's premier brass band. There are four brass bands within the group and we are proud of our association with the Shepherd Group  a leader in the construction industry and synonymous with the Portakabin™ brand. We rehearse in state of the art facilities at the Portakabin™ plant in York.

The Band History

 

The band was formed in 1903 under the name Rowntree Cocoa Works Band. The band quickly established  itself within the community and began contesting as early as 1905.

 

Over the years the band’s name changed to reflect corporate developments, becoming Nestle Rowntree Brass Band, until in 2004 the baton was handed to Shepherd Group.
