The Youth Band

The Shepherd Group Youth band is the newest band in the line up at Shepherds. Whilst Brass Bands are supposedly on the decline, numbers at the Beginners Band increased so much that we decided to form yet another Band.

The aim of this band is to give young players who have reached normally a Grade 3 standard in the Beginners Band a chance to experience more advanced music and to develop into first class musicians.

This new band has long been the ambition of Audrey Brown the Beginners Band Musical Director, which meets on Monday evenings from 7:30pm to 8:30pm at the HiBay Theatre on the Portakabin™ site in York.. Having seen the development of successful Youth Bands in other Brass Band Organisations and their contribution to the top levels of musicianship within the Brass Band movement. The Shepherd Group Youth Brass Band’s first priority is the responsibility for brass musicians of the future.
